Second Star Signs for WTC 2010

Pat Cash

Australian tennis legend Pat Cash joins Henri Leconte as the second player to sign up for the World Tennis Challenge 2010.  As Wimbledon gets underway at the All England Club, Pat Cash announced his commitment to join some of the super stars of tennis in Adelaide from 12-14 January 2010.

In 2009 Cash partnered Mark Philippoussis to represent Australia at the inaugural World Tennis Challenge at the iconic Memorial Drive.  Although beaten for the title by American’s Jim Courier and Taylor Dent, the two Australian’s were competitive throughout the event with Pat claiming wins over both Mats Wilander and Henri Leconte.

Cash was an overwhelming hit at the World Tennis Challenge 2009, a unique tennis event that featured four countries combining former tennis legends and current ATP Tour stars. Naturally, Pat did not hesitate when deciding to return to Adelaide and participate in World Tennis Challenge 2010:

“The WTC was one of the highlights for us old guys this year. It was lots of fun and the interaction with the fans was awesome. A fun format and a real treat to see the ATP and past players at the same time.”

The 2010 event begins to gain momentum with Co-Tournament Director Mark Woodforde indicating that there were more good stories to come:

“All the players enjoyed participating in the inaugural World Tennis Challenge and we were thrilled that the crowd came out in great numbers last year to support the event.  I think this year’s event will be even better and we are really encouraged by the progress the event is making.”
